The latest in the Obliquity series of limited edition prints, Obliquity 5 has been completed just in time for the upcoming exhibition to be held at Timothy's Coffee Shop in the ByWard Market (corner of Sussex and George).

Like the other prints in this series, number 5 explores the spatial relationships between elements — creating a sense of depth or three-dimensional space through the process of "visual closure".

The print, which measures 22" x 30", is printed with oil-based inks on acid-free archival paper and is available framed or unframed. For more details, visit the gallery page for this print.

Timothy's to exhibit Bill's work.

Timothy's Coffee Shop, located at the corner of George Street and Sussex Drive, will be hosting Bill's latest exhibition beginning October 01, 2006.

The show, which will run through the months of October and November, is a double-bill of sorts. Besides Bill's latest series of work, "Obliquity", the newly expanded series, "Women of Fashion" will also be on display. This series was recently extended to five original works of art with the addition of "New York".

Areen Jabali, manager of Timothy's, was particularly struck by the fashion series and believes that it, along with "Obliquity", will show well among the crowds who tend to frequent her establishment.

If you would like to view these works up close, in a relaxed environment, drop in and peruse them at your leisure over the next couple of months. Timothy's is located at 541 Sussex Drive in the heart of the ByWard Market.

The print is ready just in time for Bill's next exhibition, to be held during the months of September and October at the Timothy's Coffee shop at the corner of George and Sussex, in the heart of the Byward Market.

Obliquity exhibition small but successful.

Bill's first solo exhibition drew smaller crowds than hoped for, but was successful all the same. "My expectations for a summer exhibition were certainly not huge. However, summer vacations, the Hope Volleyball Tournament, and the final match of the World Cup event, meant considerably more people were occupied with other commitments during this particular weekend."

One other weekend attraction, however, may have helped draw some of the visitors to the exhibit. The annual Teddy Bear picnic was held at the nearby Governor General's Residence on Saturday, July 08. A few visitors to Rideau Hall noticed the signs on their way and decided to stop in for a visit.

Other visitors during the weekend also brought valuable feedback and critiques to the show and, in the end, several prints and gift cards were sold during the weekend exhibition.

"This has proven to be a very valuable experience and will go a long way towards preparing me for my next exhibition in the fall." In the meantime, Bill is in discussions with a local gallery regarding the possibility of displaying his latest work.

"I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Joanne Hughes and the staff at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre for their generous support of my first exhibition. I would also like to thank Manon Alexander for making this show a reality. Without her constant help and support, none of this would have been possible."

Obliquity 4 ready for sale.

The fourth print in the Obliquity series is available for sale, and ready just in time for the Obliquity exhibition on July 8th and 9th.

"Obliquity 4" has been produced as a limited edition of 14 prints, which include 2 artist's proofs. The print measures 22" x 30" and is printed on Stonehenge White, 200lb. archival paper, using two oil-based inks.

As part of the evolving series of abstract prints, "Obliquity 4" explores the spatial relationships of elements relative to each other. The twisting and turning lines weave a pattern designed to create a visual metaphor to life, in all its frenetic energy and pace. The red lines represent those unique elements in life which, while they appear similar to everything around them, stand out in their own unique way.

Besides being available as a limited-edition print, the artwork is also available as a printed gift card, available through the online store.

Obliquity 3 now available.

The third print in the Obliquity series is complete and ready for sale. This much anticipated print takes the most minimalist approach yet in the abstract series, evoking a sense of nature and movement, despite its asymmetrical balance.

This edition measures 22" x 30" and is limited to a total of 16 prints, which includes two artist's proofs and one dedication print.

Obliquity 3 can be viewed at Bill's upcoming solo exhibition which will be held at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre on July 8th and 9th. For more details, see below or visit the CCCC Web site.

"Obliquity" set to exhibit July 8 & 9

Bill's first solo exhibition, titled "Obliquity", will take place at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre, Saturday, July 08, and Sunday, July 09, 2006, between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM each day.

The show will be the first chance for Bill to exhibit his latest series of abstract work. The prints, which measure 22 x 30 inches, explore the abstract world through spatial relationships. Employing the relief printing method of linoleum-cut block printing, compositions are created where no two areas of ink ever touch, yet a sense of depth is created through the careful arrangement of the elements, implying overlapping solids with the use of white space.

Besides this latest series, previous limited-edition prints will also be available for sale. These include Bill's "Vintage Fashion" and Flora & Fauna" series.

In addition to limited-edition art, assorted gift cards representing the prints will be available for sale individually, and in specially priced sets.

The show takes place in the beautifully renovated Dufferin Room, located on the second floor of the CCCC, at 200 Crichton Street, in the heart of New Edinburgh.

"Obliquity 1" now available for sale.

The first in a series of abstract prints, "Obliquity 1" is the first in a study of spatial relationships.

Specifically, it explores the sense of depth and dimension that can be achieved even when creating a composition in which none of the visual elements actually come into contact with each other.

This is possible because of a process known as "visual closure", which is defined as "the process or ability to fill in missing parts of a visual stimulus..."

The print, which measures 22" x 30", is printed with oil-based inks on acid-free archival paper and is available unframed. For more details, visit the gallery page for this print.
