Flunko Proposal
3D-Rendered Figurines
My stepson asked if I could create a commemorative piece to memorialize the moment he asked his girlfriend to marry him.
I knew they both appreciated the popular style of figures known as Funko Pop® so, I proposed emulating that style to create 3D figures that I could print and decorate for the occasion. I called my version Flunko.
Using a series of photos taken of the two, I referenced these images to begin building models employing the popular, open-source 3D-rendering app Tinkercad. Once I was satisfied that I had effectively captured their essence, I printed and painted the models, applying each to its own base — one half of a Yin&Yang ☯ symbol.
This design allows each individual to be fully displayed when separated but, locks them together when they are placed in the accompanying base.
The end result was well received.
