I have been drawing mazes of all shapes and sizes for as long as I can remember. Starting with simple, rectilinear designs, I eventually evolved into more and more complicated shapes and solutions.

Eventually, I began to incorporate more obstacles such as turnarounds — a path that simply doubles back to where it started, dead ends — a frustrating obstacle to a long journey, requiring one to backtrack and find new bearings.

In the past couple of years, I have upgraded my output by utilizing Adobe Illustrator’s features to streamline the process of creating a complicated maze. The uniformity of line weight and a tight grid ensure that the maze remains as legible as possible, providing for a more enjoyable experience.

Not only that, but in a digital format, it is possible to solve these mazes without ever having to print them. All mazes are saved as either PNG or PDF files. The PDFs can be marked up directly in a PDF browser with the built-in editing tools.

With that in mind, I have just uploaded my first maze design in PNG and PDF format. look for more of these to be added at regular intervals. Just one of the free offerings here at William Murray Creative.
