Proof of Concept

So, after my recent proof-of-concept, I proved that I needed a new concept.

After much recalculating, I am now redesigning and printing gear sets that I believe will accomplish my task.

One character, in particular, needs to raise their head and look from side to side. It took awhile but, I think I finally have a design that should work.

The riser on the top of the upper gear will lift a wire armature, raising the character vertically while, at the same time, a special cam on the lower gear engages the two smaller gears.

A wire will rise vertically from one of the smaller gears and will be attached to the figure’s head. As the cam engages with the smaller gears, it will have the effect of turning the head back and forth, all before the upper cam lowers the head out of sight.

Now, I am sanding gear teeth. Fingers crossed.
